Made into a wretched movie that even Tom Hanks couldn't save. Wolfe's marvelous novel about race, justice, journalism and publicity in 1980's New York. The dust jacket is intact and is clean and free of scratches, scrapes, chips, tears and fading it has very light shelf wear. Not remaindered, ex-library or a Book Club edition. Author and journalist Tom Wolfe was one of the most conspicuous voices in American letters, credited with phrases as 'radical chic', 'me-decade' and 'the right stuff'. Except for an inked name/date/city on the back of the FFEP, the interior is perfectly clean and completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and any sort of paper damage. This book is in very good/near fine condition: the exterior is square, very clean, free of corner bumps and edge dings with very lightly bumped but otherwise undamaged spine ends the quarter binding has 1/8' of fade on both top and bottom edges spine has a very slight concave depression approaching the head hinges are strong and not damaged in any fashion. The Bonfire of the Vanities is a 1987 satirical novel by Tom Wolfe. Tom Wolfe, one of the best American authors, parodied him in his novel Bonfire of the Vanities that year.
